Today I’m excited to bring you a new review from an old favorite: Hot Octopuss. Since my first review for a Hot Octopuss product back in 2014 (the original Pulse masturbator), I’ve tried many‒if not most—of the toys they’ve released since then, including upgraded Pulse products, mini Pulse toys, and vibrating cock rings of varying designs. Peepshow Toys asked me to review the latest from this London-based company: the PleX with Flex Vibrating Butt Plug.
Though Hot Octopuss is selling this as a butt plug, Peepshow Toys has labeled this sex toy a prostate massager…and it’s easy to see why. The first thing that jumps out is the shape and size. It’s got a fairly substantial length for a butt plug (5.5 inches; 4.5 inches insertable) and has a sweet curve, designed to send the slightly pointed tip directly into your P-spot. The tip widens into a nice bulge (1.25 inches at its thickest point), before dropping down into a slender neck (about two-thirds of an inch thick). It widens again into a thick anal-safe base which houses the controls.

And what exactly is there to control, you ask? A pair of powerful vibrators, stacked one on top of the other in the plug portion of the toy. Hot Octopuss is known for their good vibrations, so I was certainly eager to see what they could come up with for anal stimulation, especially in a toy whose clear purpose is to target the sensitive prostate.
The entire PleX with Flex is coated in a satiny smooth layer of body-safe silicone, yet the plug itself feels incredibly solid when squeezed. Mindful of how potentially uncomfortable rigid toys can be, Hot Octopuss has designed this one with a flexible neck (hence the name), allowing the plug to bend up to 90 degrees in any direction, making for a more comfortable play session, especially for anal beginners.
Before you can use the vibration mode, you’ll need to charge the plug up. Included is a USB charging cord with a slender metal pin on one end. Poke the pin into the appropriate hole in the base and give the toy a good 4-hour charging, so it’s ready for your next session. Once it’s uncoupled from the charger, it’s actually waterproof, which not only allows you to take it into the shower, bath or other wet environment, but makes clean up so much easier.
With silicone toys, I typically like to use a good quality water-based lubricant. Peepshow Toys stocks a couple of my favorites: Sliquid Naturals Sassy and Wicked Simply Aqua Gelle, both of which are nice and thick lubes that tend to last longer than many water-based lubricants. These lubes go on thick and cling to the toy, making less mess during initial penetration and helping to provide you with a more comfortable experience.
Once the PleX with Flex is inserted, the base seats itself quite comfortably in the split of your ass. The base is solid and slightly curved, yet not so chunky that causes irritation or makes using the toy while seated an unpleasant experience. Too often, a butt plug is only as good as its base, and I am happy to report that this one from Hot Octopuss is quite comfortable, for short or long sessions.

The rest of the plug feels pretty amazing, as well, and you don’t even have to power up the vibes to enjoy it. As a manual-only toy, the shape makes for a fairly easy insertion, and the plump upper portion pops the hole open just long enough to bring about a gasp, before the slender neck slips into place and everything tightens back up.
The design/shape reminds me a lot of the earlier “modern day” prostate massage toys, like the Billy and Bob massagers from Lelo (soft tips that swell into chunkier plugs, nice curves, and more slender necks) and the PleX with Flex feels like a similar experience, and the addition of the flexible base adds a lot more versatility and comfort than many toys can offer.
But how do the dual vibrators measure up? Are they as good as the motors that power the popular Pulse masturbators that Hot Octopuss is famous for? I’m happy to say they are fucking great! Once charged up, the motors can be powered up using the controls on the base of the toy, or by the wireless remote that is included. The remote was a welcome addition to the newest incarnation of the Pulse (masturbator) line, allowing the massager to work as a hands-free sex toy and the remote with the PleX with Flex plug offers a similar experience.

While you can operate the vibes with the controls on the base, it turns into a sometimes dicey situation, as it can be difficult to figure out which buttons control which functions when the toy is inserted up your butt and the controls are pointed away from you and tucked out of sight. As with any insertable toy, I always recommend that a new user familiarize themselves with the controls while the toy is in their hands (and not inside their body). It makes it easier to switch things up when you are actually using the plug, especially if intense pleasure or unexpected change-ups are likely to cause distractions that can result in a premature climax.
What I like about the vibes in this plug is each one is different. Hot Octopuss labels the uppermost vibe as a “treble” and the lower vibe as a “bass.” If you have played with a lot of vibrating sex toys, you might consider the treble vibe more “buzzy” and the bass vibe more “rumbly.” They definitely put out different, uh, vibes when used one at a time, but the game really changes when you use both at once. It’s really an intense feeling and those who love powerful vibrations during anal toy play will surely enjoy putting the PleX through its paces.
I think my favorite way to use this toy is by cranking up both vibes at once and working the intensity up to one of the higher levels. Just as I am ready to explode, I found that switching the stimulation to a much “calmer” level really delivers a wonderfully unusual sensation just inside the butthole. It’s almost like the afterglow that you enjoy after a seriously intense climax. Everything seems to throb delightfully when this happens. Even on one of the lower settings, the PleX puts out some delicious sensations.
Want to switch things up even more? The PleX with Flex has a handful of pulse patterns, which also feel great…just like their counterparts in the penis massager Pulse models I’ve loved over the years. While the patterns are all satisfying, my only complaint is that you can’t switch into them using the included remote control. The only way to cycle through the patterns is by tapping the silver bar (which doubles as the Power On/Power Off control) on the edge of the toy’s base. Even though it can be tricky to maneuver when the plug is in use, it wasn’t a big enough detriment to make me not use them. While I enjoyed the FleX more with the steady vibrations, the pulse patterns are decent enough to switch into when you want or need a little variety, especially during a session that lasts longer.

Needless to say, the Hot Octopuss PleX with Flex is now one of my go-to butt plugs, and definitely my new favorite vibrating anal toy. Well done, Hot Octopuss! The flexible neck really makes this sex toy more comfortable for long term use, and the snug circular base allows you to sit on it without anything feeling awkward or uncomfortable. Now, I just need to have myself a long session with the PleX with Flex in my hole, while my favorite Pulse massager stimulates my cock. I’m just not sure I can handle it!
