Today I’m looking at a different type of item…at least for this review blog. Up until now, I’ve never worn a chastity device/cock cage, but I finally got a chance to get my hands on one. Peepshow Toys sent me one of the silicone devices they’re stocking from ManCage, so let’s take a closer look.
If you follow sex toy users/bloggers/reviewers on Twitter, chances are you’ve seen plenty of cocks locked inside cages similar to this one. Typically, cock cages consist of some sort of cock ring, a solid sheath that cages the flaccid penis, and some sort of lock that prevents the wearer from gaining access to the captive cock, and prohibits the cock from becoming erect.
Some of these chastity devices are elaborate and complex, but what if (like me) you’re merely curious about cock cages or want to try one without laying out a huge expense for something fancy that might even not work well for you, or have a proper fit? The ManCage company has released some well-made products for just such users, but these cages are made of decent materials, so those who love locking up their cocks might want to check these out as well.
Views of the four available models, some with ball splitters and some with longer cages
I was sent the ManCage Model 20: a silicone cock cage that is actually a kit in a box. Peepshow Toys currently stocks four of the ManCage models, the ones numbered 18, 19, 20 and 21. They are all fairly similar. Each kit is made up of black silicone components and pieces molded with ABS plastic. The curved cage piece comes in two sizes: a 3.5″ cage or one with an extra inch (4.5″ cage) for those who need a little extra room when flaccid. Since my own cock tends to be on the smaller side when not erect, I felt the smaller of the two would work better for me (it did!).
The other distinction between the four sets is that two of them have an extra piece protruding from the bottom edge of the cock cage. This curved piece is designed to not only separate the balls once the cage is locked into place, but to help prevent them from tightening up, which is common during arousal. Since my nuts are larger than average, I opted for the kit without this extra piece. Without the divider, your balls are free to hang as loose as they can, given that everything else is wrapped up and snapped up.
Once you’ve decided on which cage to order, you’ll open it up to find quite an assortment of pieces inside, and I think this is where the ManCage devices really got it right. While I’m no expert when it comes to chastity devices, unless you have some experience with this sort of thing, and know exactly what measurements you’ll need in a more-customized cage, the ManCage kits allow for some decent range when selecting your rings and fasteners out of the box.
First of all, the box this kit comes in is quite splendid, each set of variable pieces are packed in little clear plastic bags, with the larger items nestled into a foam insert that has cutouts for each part. While I found the diagrams on the printed instruction manual fairly helpful, the text directions leave a lot to be desired, mostly because they are printed in white and red text in an all-caps block font on a black background. The print is quite small and the red text is especially difficult to make out. I’m guessing the color scheme was selected so it would compliment the red/white/black box, and it does look quite nice, visually…I just wish it had been expanded a bit so there was more room for larger/easier-to-read text. There’s an even larger booklet inside the box with descriptive information about other ManCage products, but (again) the small white block text on a solid black background made it too cryptic to easily delve into.
Luckily, figuring out how to assemble the device was fairly straightforward, and the included diagrams help out as well. Here are the basic steps to assembling your new ManCage Cock Cage*:
- Select a ring. Similar to a cock ring, there are four different sizes in the kit, and—unlike cock rings—the rings in the kit I selected have a C-shape and not a solid O. Each end of the ring is molded with a tab with a hole in it. These rings are made of solid silicone and they’re firm, but have a lot of flex to them. This definitely gives them a comfort factor when you are wearing the cage for an extended period of time and makes them easier to put on. To complete the ring, use the two smaller silicone “elbows” with three holes in them. These pieces connect to either side of the C-ring with longer plastic pegs. I found it was easier to assemble the ring after I placed the C behind my balls.
- Once you’ve sized and assembled your cock ring, attach it to the longer curved cock cage. Slide your flaccid penis into the chamber, then push the two outer pegs through the holes in the top edge of the cage. The third (center) peg has a rounded end without a stop (as the two outer pegs do) and will push through the center hole at the top of the cage. The kit I used contained four hollow “spacers” of different lengths, to support the center peg and keep everything more firmly in place.
- Now that the cage is linked to the ring, you need to lock it in place. Make any adjustments to the assembled device and ensure that everything is aligned and feels comfortable. You have two options for locking your cage. There is a small metal padlock that will be the easiest and most popular choice for many users. With the padlock open, thread the shackle through the hole in the tip of the center plastic peg above the cage and twist and snap it shut. Of course make sure you have one of the keys (there are 2) in a safe spot for when you wish to unlock your cage. Many couples who engage in chastity enjoy having the non-wearing be the “keyholder,” so hand it over if this is your arrangement. The second option for locking is not quite as permanent, and involved threading one of the plastic zip-tie-style plastic locks (my kit had 5) through the hole. These hold everything in place and will keep your cage assembled and your cock locked, and it’s certainly a nice option for travelers or anyone needing to pass through a metal detector for security reasons while keeping their cock cage a secret. These easily removable fasteners might offer more comfort to newer users who want the option for a “quick release” if they feel the need to remove the cage when the key might not be handy.
*Since Models 18 & 19 contain a ball splitting device, the overall pieces and design will differ in those kits. Please refer to the images below of all four kits and the parts they contain and their differences.
That’s really all there is to putting this kit together. The pieces you aren’t using store easily in the box, with little cutouts in the foam to hold everything when it’s not being used. Having never worn a cock cage before, I found the ManCage completely comfortable, and I really enjoyed the defined bulge the cage itself created in the pouch of my jockstrap and underpants. I thought since it was made out of semi-flexible silicone, the thing would collapse easily and cause irritation or discomfort because of this, but not so. It held its shape for long sessions, even when worn under fairly tight pants. Even though I found it comfortable while wearing it for long sessions (full disclosure: I did not keep myself locked 24/7), I was always aware of the cage and ring encompassing my cock and balls, which I suppose is half the fun of being outfitted in a chastity device.
And the cage definitely prevented me from obtaining any kind of erection. I can grow hard quite easily while entertaining lurid thoughts about sex, but when I tried this while caged, my cock growing stiff stalled out rather quickly, unlike trying to get hard while wearing tight pants/undergear, where I can typically still grow hard (uncomfortably so).
I thought I might be able to fool the cage and achieve some sort of stimulation to my encased cock. Since the curved enclosure is made of bendable silicone, I figured I could utilize my favorite vibrating masturbating wand (The Man Wand) and apply some intense stimulation through the cage and make myself cum. Nope. The cage thrwarted my efforts. Not only couldn’t I get off, I couldn’t even obtain even the slightest bit of pleasure with this tool. And this toy has brought my countless orgasms just from caressing my dick through undergear, clothes, sheets, blankets, you name it. So this is definitely something to keep in mind if you are looking for a cage that will work hard to deprive you of sexual stimulation.
That said, the cage is outfitted with four rectangular cutouts on the sides (to help with ventilation for longer sessions), as well as a smaller square hole in the tip of the cage for urination purposes, or to help drain any other fluids you might be able to produce while locked up. Though I couldn’t cum while wearing the ManCage, I was able to work up quite a quanitity of precum during a lengthy prostate stimulation session, and it was kind of nice to feel this viscous fluid pouring out of my cage. Since it’s all (save for the lock) silicone and plastic, you can easily shower while wearing it and the pieces can be cleaned inside and out by hand if and when you’re allowed to remove the device.
I have to say I’m so happy I finally got to try out a chastity device. The cock cage from ManCage gets a recommendation for me. I think new and curious users will like how well thought out the kit is, and the sizing options within the kit should work for most users. Long-time or more advanced chastity users might not like this kit, because you could definitely pry the plastic pins away from the holes in the silicone ring (thereby separating the cage from the ring), so it wouldn’t be the ideal choice if you wanted to make sure the wearer couldn’t remove it once it’s locked up.
Still, silicone is a very body-friendly material and feels quite comfortable as well, and the pieces all seemed to fit together well. I’d definitely give one of these kits a try if you’ve always wanted to wear a cage, but were worried that you might end up with a custom-fit device that was too loose or too tight.
Peepshow Toys is currently stocking four different versions of the ManCage kits and all of them are in solid black. Two of them have shorter cages (3.5″) and two have a longer cage if your flaccid cock needs a little more room (4.5″). The other difference is that two of the kits have an extra piece to help split the balls and hold them down once you’re locked up.
