Performance Plus Drive Rimming Plug from Blush Novelties

Today I’m looking at another product from Blush Novelties: the Performance Plus Drive Rimming Butt Plug. If you’ve ever been curious to try a rimming plug but were leery about the price, Peepshow Toys is stocking this one and it’s about half the cost of most of the higher end rimming plugs I’ve seen. But how does it measure up to those? Let’s take a look.

The Drive has a few components I’ll be looking at, but let’s start with the plug itself. It’s made out of silicone, which is a great material for sex toys. It’s body-friendly, smooth, sleek, and odor free. The total length of the toy is 5.75 inches with an insertable portion of 4 inches. The widest usable part of the plug is 1.5 inches, so this toy is suited for both experienced users who don’t want a huge butt plug, as well as newbies who want an anal toy where the size is more manageable. The shape of the plug is slender and pointy, with a nice rounded tip, a slightly bulged center and a tight neck that spreads into a wide round base. It sits easily upright and kind of reminds me of one of those weights that you can tie helium balloons to for a table centerpiece. The base is very solid, in fact the whole plug is pretty solid. The top inch-and-a-half has a little bit of give, but the rest of the plug holds the machinery that gives the Drive plug its two main functions: vibration and rimming sensation.

Blush touts this plug as having “deep, rumbly vibration” and they aren’t kidding. The Drive roars to life on the highest setting and intense vibrations can be felt through every inch of the plug. Whether you enjoy stimulation in the tip for targeted prostate massage or shudders through the entire toy, this one delivers. I counted 10 separate vibration settings: some really unique and wonderful pulse patterns, and five steady vibration modes. If you prefer a gentler steady stimulation, you can cycle through the settings until you find one that meets your needs, but honestly this toy is designed for those who want a powerhouse vibrator. For a relatively small, slender butt plug, it really blasts off.

Since it’s being sold as a rimming plug, you’re probably even more curious how it performs in this regard. The “rimming” function occurs when layers of rotating beads buried in the neck of the plug (the portion that your hole will surround after you’ve pushed the plug all the way inside) begin to spin. Like the vibrator, the rimming beads have multiple settings, spinning slowly or with increased speed, so you can easily select the sensation that feels best for you. I have to say I wasn’t expecting the Blush rimming plug to be quite as intense as the (much) more expensive versions, but it’s pretty fucking fantastic! I actually enjoyed the slower speeds better than the higher ones; feeling a delicate tickle around my hole just felt amazing on its own. Coupled with some of the more intense vibration settings, the pairing was quite mind-blowing. Relaxing your hole and ass muscles creates a different sensation than if you clench down on the plug while it’s operating. Both options felt great to me. Because of its slender nature, you can even easy the plug in and out in a gentle thrusting motion, so your hole can experience different sensations depending on which area is in contact with your pleasure zones. I noticed that — during an extended session — with both functions running together, the Drive heats up quite a bit (each time I measured the temperature when it felt warm it was in the upper 90s F), but this actually made it feel even more pleasant inside me.

Another thing I liked was the hand-held remote that comes with the Drive plug. While you can cycle through the various vibe and rim functions using the sole control button on the base of the plug, using the wireless remote gives you more versatility during your play session. Two of the four buttons allow for rimming-only performance, while the other two control the vibrator. You can run the vibe or rim session separately, or pair them together. A fifth button in the center turns the remote on and off. A white LED light on both the remote and the base of the plug glows to let you know they’re powered on. Be sure to play around with the controls before sticking the plug up your butt, because it takes a little time to learn all of the functions. As much as I love strong, rumbly vibrations, I turned on the plug the first time after it was up inside me and started out on the most intense vibration setting (which gets even more intense very quickly — just wait and see! ? ), instead of starting slow and working up to the “full blast” settings.

Before you can use either the plug or the remote, they need to be charged. This couldn’t be easier with the magnetic USB charging cord. Not only can you charge the butt plug using this method, but the remote has a magnetic port as well. No batteries required! Be sure to give both devices a full charge before you start your session and they should last about 45 minutes during use. Just make sure the charging port is fully connected while charging; position the plug so the charger connects completely and the LED light blinks. Being magnetic, it’s easy for one or both of the leads to separate, which means the toy isn’t charging. The Drive rimming plug is also designed to be waterproof as well, which definitely makes clean up easier. Simply wash it up with soap and warm water and pat it dry or allow it air dry before storing.

The only drawback I found with this toy had to do with the slender shape and the base. Once it was lubed up, it was difficult to keep the plug full inserted at all times (I confess, I was bearing down on it while it was rumbling away full blast, so I’m sure this helped push it back out). Normally I just apply pressure on the base of a toy when it needs to be held in place, but doing this with the Drive sometimes interfered with the control button on the center of the base (i.e. the motor was shut off inadvertently when my fingers put pressure on it). Remembering to hold the plug by the edges of the base should avert this issue.

Overall though, I loved the Performance Plus Drive Rimming Plug from Blush Novelties. For the price, it’s a powerhouse vibrator that has a great delicate (or more intense, if preferred) rimming function and can easily compete with some of the rimmers that cost twice as much.
